San Diego Cubicles Company Goes Green Cubicles Office Environments Inc. Builds Environmentally Friendly Downtown Office  
   
SAN DIEGO --- Cubicles Office Environments recently completed work on a state-of-the-art "green" office for EDAW Inc., a prominent downtown environmental planning company.  
   
The new office, which is in the National Bank Building in downtown San Diego, incorporates a completely sustainable office design and achieves LEED certification, an impressive feat for such an old building.  
   
Recycled materials were used in all cubicles and office furniture including all desks, chairs and tables. In order to achieve LEED certification, at least 50% of waste from the project was either recycled or reused. All newly installed copy machines, computers and kitchen appliances were energy efficient models.  
   
The workstation dividers were covered with recycled fabric and C2C (cradle to cradle) chairs were used. When no longer functional, the chairs will be returned to the manufacturer for recycling instead of being thrown away.  
   
In addition to the materials, the office space itself was designed to be environmentally friendly. Low open plan dividers and interior windows were designed to let in natural light, reducing the office's overall need for lighting and energy.  
   
Water-saving appliances were used in the bathrooms and even drought tolerant native plants were brought in to reduce water usage throughout the office.
