Why Sustainable Office Building Projects?

You may think that the major polluters of today are large manufacturers - think smokestacks billowing black soot - or the millions of cars on our highways. And you wouldn't be wrong.

But did you know that buildings are one of the heaviest consumers of natural resources and account for a significant portion of the greenhouse gases that affect climate change? According to the Energy Information Administration's 2005 Energy Review, buildings account for 39 percent of all CO2 emissions in the U.S. What's more, the Department of Energy in 2003 reported that buildings represent 70 percent of electricity consumption in this country.

Yet there is no reason buildings must use 15 trillion gallons of all potable water a year here in the U.S. (U.S. Geological Service, 1995 data). There is no reason that 136 million tons of building related construction and debris need be generated a year (EPA, 1997).

There is a better way. It takes a bit more thought, a bit more awareness, but it needn't be impossible or even difficult.

We thought more. We became aware.

We decided we would help offices and buildings reduce their consumption and cut back on waste.

We went green.
